💪 Coaching Regattas & Crew Development

Written by Secretary | Oct 23, 2025 7:02:47 AM

It’s been a huge few months for our coaching team and crews, with so much progress both on and off the water.

We were thrilled to welcome Coach Hamish to the team earlier this season. Hamish has brought a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and high-performance experience — working closely with our Bow Ballers to sharpen their technical skills and competitive edge. His energy has been infectious across the club, helping to strengthen our overall HP pathway and set the tone for what’s to come in 2026.

We’ve also introduced new training initiatives for both our Intermediate and High Performance squads, helping rowers bridge the gap between development and competition. The growth, resilience, and camaraderie across all levels have been fantastic to see.

🚣‍♀️ Regatta Highlights Since June

  • South QLD Schools Conference Trophy Regatta
This regatta was a standout for us! We finished 5th overall against some much larger competition — an incredible result for our growing club. Many of our rowers took home medals, notably Sophia, Ayva, Djamila, Holly-Ava, Theo, Liv, and Luella. It was a brilliant team effort and a real testament to the hard work being put in across all squads.

  • Queensland Schools Championships
What a weekend! Despite brutal conditions — from gale-force winds to soul-destroying heat — our crews gave it everything. The effort, teamwork, and grit displayed were incredible. While we weren’t as prepared as we’d hoped for this event, every athlete dug deep and should be incredibly proud of their performances, particularly those who progressed through to semis and finals, Luella Sophia, Djamila and Georgia.

  • Head of the Brisbane (HOB)
A standout performance from Georgia and Dash, who took first place, with Dj and Spider coming second, and Zac and Gabby third in their Mixed Double.  Our girls U19 Double and U19 Quads both came second in their divisions.  Great effort Theo and Georgina, and Sophia, Zoe, Ayva, Holly-Ava and Eloise â€” an amazing achievement over the gruelling 9.5km course. The Head of the Brisbane is no small feat, and all of our rowers showed true endurance and determination on one of the toughest courses of the year.

Every event has shown just how far our rowers have come — in fitness, focus, and club spirit. The energy heading into the summer season is electric, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
