We’ve Got Answers! We understand you might have questions before starting your rowing journey. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions to help you make the best decision. If you don’t find your answer here, feel free to reach out! [Learn to Row Click to Learn to Row](https://www.maroochyriverrowing.com.au/events/323918) ###### Do I need any rowing experience to join? No — Learn to Row is designed for absolute beginners. Most of our rowers had never touched an oar before their first session. Get in touch to find out when our next Learn to Row or Try Rowing session is ###### What age can my child start rowing? We welcome rowers from age 12 through to 27, across our Learn to Row, junior squads, and adult/recreational programs.  Ability to swim 100m is required. ###### How do I try rowing before committing to anything? For complete beginners, our Try Rowing days are one-off sessions with zero commitment — a chance to get on the water and see if it's for you before signing up for a full program.   For experienced rowers, you are welcome to come try our water and facilities and get to know our people.  Reach out and we'll organise a time to get you on the water. ###### Can adults join, or is MRRC just for juniors? We're a youth-focused club ages 12-27, but we run adult and UniSC pathways too — see our Programs detailed on our home page. Sunshine Coast Rowing Club at Chambers Island is a dedicated Masters club offering rowing for adults. ###### What should I wear to my first session? Fitted clothing that won't get caught in the equipment — bike pants or shorts (not loose), and a fitted t-shirt (also not loose — loose clothing can catch in the slides and tear). Mandatory: a hat and a drink bottle. Gym shoes, since first sessions include erging. Slides or crocs for walking to the water and launching. Sun protection of your choice, and mosquito repellant is a good idea too. If it's cold, bring warm clothes to change into afterwards.
